webkinz???

what parents out there have bought the webkinz, and are you hating them yet?? all 4 of my kids have these webkinz. yes, i think its kinda a neat idea, but is it neccessary to want them all?? we bought a couple for good report cards, bday, whatever, but they keep asking for more and more!! so now they have to use their own money. i just dont get why they need that many. they dont play with the animal itself, they just want the code. oh! and now they have all these other webkinz items. im gonna go nuts with it!! okay, thats it im done venting. thnx and wht do you think?? am i just crazy?

  3. i know, each of my girls were happy with one webkinz... and then all of a sudden they want more and more. i was like "Whats wrong with the one you have??" they insisted it's all about collecting them now! they want more codes so they can play with each animal on the website. now they have charms and little kinz....omg when will it end?? i feel ya.
  4. My husband's business partner sent my daughter one and we haven't set it up on the computer. Are you telling me that it's gonna drive me crazy just like her American Girl doll, or my littlest pet shops, or high school musical stuff?
  5. Actually webkins is a very neat idea. Yes i am tired of my 7 year old spending more time in the computer than me, but overall it has proven to be a safe and somewhat an educational deal for her. She has at least one aunt that spends her whole lunch break playing under her name to make money for her, and to help her with her 10 room mansion. I have to admit that sometimes i go also and play for a bit.
  6. Well webkinz are supposed to be the new expensive neopets that move around. The first one they get leads to wanting more and more and more! They sleep with the stuffed animal, but the use the code so they can see there animal. The can only do the same thing over and over. It brainwashes them into thinking that a new one will be a WHOLE lot diffrent and if the get the new cards and charms they will have a even better account! Just tell your kids to go to limited to there you can just open the card and see the code without the trouble of buying the animal THEY NEVER USE! or just introduce them to the sims 2 they will spend WAY more time on that then webkinz.   7. It's just one more thing for our kids to want and to buy and to spend money on. I don't think it's any worse than tons of other things they are coaxed into buying through advertising but, I hate advertising so I guess it just seems all the same to me. Do you really think people played with all those beannie babies that everyone was buying 10 years ago? It's just the latest craze and it isn't even THAT much of a craze.
  8. My daughters have them. I don't allow them to go overboard with them. My 5 year old has two and the 9 year old has 3. They got them for birthday's. I think that's too many already! I've explained to them that if they are still interested when the 1 year code expires, we'll see about getting another ONE. I ran into another mom that I'm acquainted with at the playground and we were talking about the same topic. After I stated my opinion on the whole thing, her daughter piped up and announced that she as 24 of them (can you hear my eyes rolling....) Parents help to feed these marketing frenzies, people need to learn a little self control and teach a little as well!
  9. I've heard all about them, never given in to my daughters about it... I will hate it too I'm sure! They don't need them. We didn't have them... it's not really teaching them anything. I bet if you took all of them away and stored them at a friends house, they will forget about them in a week! Try it!

My daughter is crazy about them and I am just VERY grateful they don't cost as much as PlayStation games.LOL plus when I play for her I really rack up the points, my boys on the other hand, think I'm a loser at all the game systems games.Its almost as if I am wasting there time and the truth is I hate video games.but sweetie it's just a fad,one of many I sure we will encounter. At least pretend to enjoy it for the time being, and your kids will think and know you are a super cool mom. What could be better!??!
  11. MY Kids have friends with over 20 of them. I think that's a total waste of money. And I tell them so. My 2 have three each which is quite enough. And the worst is collector places buying out the stationary stores and selling them for $40.00 a animal (which my kids thankfully know not to even think of asking for) You forgot to mention the cards that end up all over the place ;)
  12. no you are not crazy the reason why they want more and more is because they can get special items and after the tenth adoption they can get an elusive item. and another reason is that they are all so damn cute
  13. I LOVE WEBKINZ!!!!!!!! I'm eleven, and they are so much fun. It's not really the toy, but the online animal. The more pets you have the more money you get. And the more items and rooms you get. Also, they are continuously makeing new ones, that are even better with better items than they older ones. It's almost competetive. It's addicting! and it teaches you stuff, like math games and spelling and typing games. Look at "Quizzy's Question Corner". Also, the comment about leaving them at a friends house wouldn't work cuase it's an ONLINE game. You can't take the website away. They don't care about the toys.
  14. My daughters best friend and her sisnter have over 105 of them plus about 20 packs of those cards and all of the charms. they dont spend a dime. theyre mom buys buys buys it for them
  15. i play webkinz hehe and ganz does a very good job of making kids want to buy more...with the animals charms and trading cards there is soo much you can get...and everything comes with awesome benefits like prizes and special items and money that is one thing i don't like about webkinz...you have to keep adopting if you want to keep playing
  16. You aren't crazy! There will always be some sort of crazy toy that every kid MUST have! Remember the whole beanie babies thing, and Pokemon? At least these Webkinz are fun and cute, even if you do just play with them on the computer! My mom bought my sister and I one because my littler sister misses me a lot, I live in a different state then my family, and my sister and I can play games online together and I can even send her presents. It's a cute concept but I don't think you really need more then 2 or 3. I am going to buy my sister another one because I wanted her to have one from me. I am not too sure how many she has. I just hope that they don't over kill them like they did with beanie babies. That whole thing was ridiculous!
  17. I've seen people with 40 50, 100 or more.... By adopting more, you get more Kinz Cash and special items that you couldn't normally get any other way. It's a great business strategy from Ganz and it hooks children and adults alike... Take a look at http://www.webkinzinsider.com/forum and you'll see how much fun everyone's having with them. At least it's wholesome, educational, and fun!
  18. My niece that just came to live with me is 13 and has 8! I do love webkinz and do play on my niece's accounts sometimes but They are driving me nuts too and they are cute, but it's so ridiculous! I bought her one because she got in an accident, but that's all I'll buy for her when it's not her birthday! And also she's now giving some of them to my youngest daughter 19 months (the stuffed animals, since she doesn't really play with them). I know your pain. You are not crazy.
